On October 1st, 2023, students from Sresakthimayeil Institute of Nursing and Research in Komarapalayam organized a Clean Hospital Drive at the Erode Government Hospital (GH). The chief guest of the event was Dr. Adaikalavan, MBBS, MD (Pulmonary Medicine), who serves as a Medical Officer. Dr. Venkadesh, MBBS, MD (Pediatrics) and MS, also graced the occasion. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Kavitha, MBBS, DGO, who holds the position of Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at the institution.During the event, a pledge was taken by the participants, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic hospital environment. The students actively collaborated with the hospital workers to clean and sanitize various areas of the hospital. This Clean Hospital Drive served several significant purposes. Firstly, it fostered a sense of community involvement and responsibility among the students. They learnt the importance of contributing to the well-being of the society and recognized their role in ensuring a safe and clean healthcare environment. Secondly, the event created awareness about the significance of hygiene in healthcare settings. Hospital-acquired infections are a significant concern, and by actively participating in cleaning and sanitizing the hospital, the students gained valuable insights into infection control practices. Furthermore, the students had the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals like Dr. Adaikalavan and Dr. Venkadesh, gaining exposure to their expertise and the challenges faced in maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment.
